264 Pune Tourists Contact District Control Room After Pahalgam Attack in Jammu and Kashmir

Pune, 23rd April 2025: In the aftermath of a violent attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22 (Tuesday), the District Collector’s Office in Pune has set up an emergency Control Room to assist travellers from Pune district who may be trapped in the region.

A total of 26 people have died and 17 others sustained injuries in the incident. Among the deceased are Kaustubh Ganbote and Santosh Jagdale, both residents of Pune. The injured include S. Bhalchandra, Asawari Jagdale, and Pragati Jagdale. They are expected to reach Pune by flight around 6 pm today.

So far, 264 tourists from Pune have contacted the Control Room seeking help. Their details have been forwarded to the State Disaster Control Centre at Mantralaya for further coordination and support.

According to a statement issued by the District Collector’s Office, the special Control Room was activated on April 22, immediately after reports of the attack surfaced. Officials have urged families and concerned citizens to use the helpline numbers provided for any information regarding tourists currently in Pahalgam.
