New Delhi, 17th October 2024: Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said that the standards and regulations of 6G service can be made available to everyone at a cheap price. He said that only then will mankind be able to truly benefit from 6G service. In a program organized on 6G at the India Mobile Congress on Wednesday (16th October), Scindia said that there is ample opportunity in India for the development of technology related to 6G service.

Preparations are underway to launch a 6G service in India by the year 2030. The Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), working under the Ministry of Communications, has started working on various research related to 6G.

C-DOT’s 6G innovation lab is researching several technologies, such as Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS). With the help of RIS, 6G services can be easily provided even in hilly areas.

Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that under 6G service, the internet speed will be unprecedented, and its quality will also be the best, but it will be beneficial only when it is available to everyone. He said that strong arrangements will also have to be made for the cybersecurity of those using 6G services.

India can also make a significant contribution to the technology related to 6G because 31.7% of the world’s graduates related to science, engineering, technology, and mathematics are in India. Currently, 5G is being spread in India, and 5G service has been restored in almost 97% of the cities, and more than 13 crore people are using 5G service.

5G service started in India in October 2022, whereas in many countries of the world, 5G service started in 2019-20 itself. But India wants to lead the world in 6G service and wants to develop such technology domestically that can be sold in the world.

The Ministry of Communications is also taking cooperation at the international level in this work. Under this, the India 6G Alliance has signed an agreement with Europe’s 6G Smart Network and Service Industry Association.
