56 Employees Of Pune Rural Police’s Petrol Pumps Booked For Misappropriation Of Funds

Pune 15th Sept 2023: The Pune Rural Police have booked 56 employees working at the petrol pump run by the rural police under the welfare board for alleged misappropriation of funds worth Rs 20 lakh since June 2021 till 2023. The shocking details revealed during the recent audit after which the police lodged a complaint in the matter.

The police have named the fuel attendants who worked at the petrol pumps in the last two years. It is revealed that the accused did not deposit the money collected from customers to the Pune Rural Police Welfare Board’s account. Besides, some of the accused also diverted payments made through UPI mode on their private accounts. A case in this regard has been registered at Chaturshringi Police Station under relevant sections.

It may be noted that the Pune Rural Police had inaugurated two petrol pumps on Baner Road and Pashan Road which were being operated by the Welfare Board of the rural police and the revenue earned from these fuel pumps was used for various initiatives run by the police. The fuel pumps were inaugurated by then home minister Dilip Walse Patil at an event in the city.

According to officials, a difference of a total of Rs 17,25,324 was found in the accounts of Baner Road Petrol Pump while a difference of Rs 2,93,736 was found in the accounts of Pashan Road Petrol Pump.
