New Delhi, 27th August 2022: It has been seen that brokers are interfering in the ticket booking system of Indian Railways. Indian Railways has cancelled around 37 lakh personal user IDs in the last seven years as brokers, sub-agents and small traders are doing black marketing of confirmed tickets by creating personal user IDs in IRCTC.

The above report was presented in the Parliament on August 4, 2022, by the Standing Committee on Railways headed by BJP leader Radha Mohan Singh.

The department in its reply said that CRIS and IT Anti-Fraud Cell (ITAF) of RPF and IRCTC cancel the personal user ID based on user complaints and investigation. The cell monitors the activities like day-to-day monitoring of booking of e-tickets, booking all tickets of a fixed number of tickets every month and frequent hits on the website. After this, the personal user ID is cancelled.

On the IRCTC website, reservation ticket booking (AC class) for the general public starts at 8 am every day, tatkal ticket booking at 10 am and reservation for sleeper at 11 am. During this time, there is a ban on booking any type of ticket on IRCTC’s lakhs of sub-agent websites.

But despite the ban, agents are illegally breaching the IRCTC website. Due to this, the confirmed tickets are booked in a few moments and most of the railway passengers have a waiting ticket in their hands.

Apart from sub-agents, brokers and small traders are also involved in this business. All agents engaged in black marketing of tickets use modern software. It is easily available on Google and in the market.

It is easy to break into the website even after the restrictions from the software and once clicked, the software keeps hitting the IRCTC server till the transaction is completed.

The common passenger tries to get the confirmed ticket from the normal computer system but is not successful.
