29% More Rain Recorded In Maharashtra; Ahmednagar And Sangli Recorded Highest While Hingoli Recorded Lowest Rainfall

Pune, 5th September 2024: This year, there has been heavy rain recorded all over the state. Between 1 June and 4 September, there has been 29 per cent more rain than the average, i.e. 1,093 mm of rain has been recorded. Nagar, Sangli has recorded more than average rainfall, while Hingoli has recorded the lowest rainfall in the state.

The average rainfall in the state is 845.1 mm from 1 June to 4 September. Konkan received 3,276 mm which is 27 per cent more than average, Central Maharashtra recorded 903.7 mm of rain which is 48 per cent more than average, Marathwada recorded 673.9 mm; 33 per cent more than average meanwhile Vidarbha 954.5 mm recorded rainfall which is 17 per cent more than average has been recorded.

Among the districts, Nagar and Sangli districts have received the highest rainfall. Reportedly, Nagar has recorded 581 mm of rain; 79 per cent more than the average, while Sangli has recorded 628 mm of rain; 72 per cent more than the average. Also, more than 50 per cent of average rainfall has been recorded in Jalgaon (51 per cent), Pune (55 per cent), Beed (51 per cent) and Latur (59 per cent) districts.

Although most districts of the state have recorded above-average rainfall, Hingoli has recorded 31 per cent below-average rainfall. The average rainfall in Hingoli is 647.5 mm but this year the district has recorded rainfall of 447 mm. Amravati has received two per cent less rain. Amravati has an average of 709.3 mm and this year 695.7 mm of rain has been recorded. Eight per cent less rain has been recorded in Gondia. The average rainfall in Gondia district is 1,063 mm. However, this year 980.7 mm of rain has been recorded.
