New Delhi, 29th June 2023: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is responsible for organizing the highly challenging Civil Services exam, which is widely recognized as the toughest examination in India. Today, we present an inspiring tale of an extraordinary candidate who, at the age of 21, successfully cleared the UPSC Civil Services exam on his very first attempt. This remarkable accomplishment earned him the esteemed rank of an IAS officer, securing AIR 27. Saksham Goel achieved this exceptional feat without any coaching, a noteworthy achievement considering the demanding nature of this rigorous examination, even for the brightest minds.

Saksham Goel, originally hailing from Agra, completed his secondary education by successfully passing Class 10. In 2015, he decided to relocate to Delhi. He pursued his studies further and finished Class 12 at Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj. Following his schooling, Goel enrolled in St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, where he pursued a graduation degree in Economics and Political Science. It was during his college years that he embarked on his preparation journey for the UPSC examination.

During the one-year gap after college, Saksham Goel dedicated himself to studying political science and economics, maintaining a disciplined routine of approximately six to seven hours of study each day. Despite the rigorous preparation, he managed to find time for his favourite sport, football, which served as a means of stress relief. Additionally, Goel developed a fondness for reading books written by journalists.

While supplementing his self-study with online courses, Saksham Goel approached the 35-minute interview for the UPSC examination with remarkable composure, stating that he felt no nervousness during the process. His focused preparation and calm demeanour likely played a significant role in his ultimate success.

Overwhelmed with joy, Saksham Goel candidly expressed his emotions upon achieving such an impressive rank. In his conversation with journalists, he candidly expressed, “Frankly speaking, my aspirations were set on achieving success, but I never anticipated attaining such an extraordinary position.”When I received the result on Monday afternoon, I didn’t know how to react. I immediately rushed to my father and could only utter, ‘Papa naukri lag gayi (Father, I got the job).'”

Amit Goel, the father of Saksham, joyfully and proudly expressed his admiration for his son’s exceptional accomplishment in securing the 27th rank on his maiden attempt. He emphasized his unwavering belief in Saksham’s capabilities and attributed his success to his son’s unwavering passion and dedication throughout the preparation period. Amit Goel currently manages a business alongside Saksham’s elder brother, Shubham, who works as a civil engineer.
