Pune, 20th June 2024: The film “Lakshya,” marking its 20th anniversary since release on 21st June, stars Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Preity Zinta. Directed by Farhan Akhtar in 2004, it gained fame through its enduring songs despite moderate box office success.

Filmed at 17,582 feet in Ladakh amid -8 to -9 degrees Celsius, “Lakshya” featured real soldiers from the 13th Battalion of the Punjab Regiment, including Drill Instructor Subedar Shrivardhan Sach from the Indian Military Academy.

Javed Akhtar returned to screenwriting after 14 years with “Lakshya,” following his work on “Main Azaad Hoon” in 1989. Farhan Akhtar recalled a poignant moment from scriptwriting, where a senior Army officer lamented declining enlistment rates despite public admiration for the military.

Hrithik Roshan, though not the first choice, took the lead role after Aamir Khan declined due to commitments with “Mangal Pandey.”

The film continues to resonate for its portrayal of personal growth and military life, resonating with audiences even two decades later.
