20 kgs of MD drugs worth Rs 20 crores seized, five arrested

Pimpri Chinchwad, October 8, 2020: The Pimpri Chinchwad Police crime branch arrested five men on Wednesday evening on Chakan-Shikrapur road for allegedly transporting Mephedrone(MD) drugs worth Rs 20 crores.

The five men were identified as Anandgir Madhugir Gosavi (25), Chetan Fakkad Dandavate (28), Sanjiv Kumar Bansi Raut (44), Akshay Shivaji Kale (25), and Tausif Hasan Mohammad Taslim (31).

Senior Police Inspector Sriram Paul had received confidential information that a blue Volkswagen Polo car with tinted glass was smuggling drugs on the Chakan-Shikrapur road.

Acting on the tip-off, a team led by Paul laid a trap at Dashmesh Punjabi Dhaba and caught the five accused. “After chasing the car for a while, the driver stopped the vehicle. They were found in possession of 20 kilograms of drugs worth 20.05 crore “, said Krishna Prakash, Commissioner of Police, Pimpri Chinchwad Police.

Inspector Paul also seized the car used for drug trafficking and cash worth Rs 23,100.

This action was taken under the guidance of Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Sudhir Hiremath and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajaram Patil. The team included Assistant Police Inspector Prashant Mahale, Assistant Sub Inspector Shakir Jinedi, Rajan Mahadik and Police personnel Pradip Shelar, Rajendra Bamble, Shakur Tamboli, Dinkar Bhujbal, Prasad Jangilwad, Santosh Bhalerao, Ashok Gargate, Dada Das, Prasad Kalate, Shailesh Magar, Ajit Kute, Anita Yadav, Sandeep Patil and Santosh Dighe.
