2 BHK Pub Parking Matter: Pune Police Register Molestation Case Against Youth Who Had Earlier Filed FIR For Assault

Pune, 29th March 2022: A few days after a 20-year-old-youth had registered a case against a group of youths for assaulting him in the parking area of 2BHK Diner and Key Club at Raja Bahadur The Mills, Pune city police have now booked him for molesting a 19-year-old girl during the incident.

The incident had taken place around 2.30 am on March 13. After a late-night party at the pub, they were in the parking lot when a scuffle broke out between them.

As per the youth’s FIR registered on March 25 against 13 persons, one of the accused had whistled at a girl who was in his group and also passed derogatory comments. When confronted the accused reportedly told him that ‘It is my mouth and I can say anything, my eyes and can see anything’. Initially, there were only three accused persons and later they called their 8-10 friends and a scuffle broke out.

“I was assaulted with rod and chain with a ring. They had also robbed Rs 6,500 cash from my pocket”, the youth stated in his complaint.

Police had registered the case for offences under sections 395 (dacoity), 397 (Robbery, or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt), 509 (intentional insult) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act.

On March 28 (Monday), based on the complaint from 19-year-old girl police registered a case against the youth (first complainant) for offences under sections 354a (sexual harassment), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult) of the IPC.

In her complaint, the girl stated, “I was with my friends when some people started fighting among themselves. The accused pulled me aside and molested me. When my friends tried to intervene, he beat them with his hands and also abused them.”

Police said that no arrest has been made yet. “We are investigating the cross-complaints. After the party at the hotel, they were in the parking area when the scuffle took place”, said Police Sub Inspector Akshay Gorad, who is investigating the girl’s case.

When asked if the hotel was open till late at night, he added, “As per the preliminary investigation, the hotel had got closed on time and it took time for the customers to come out.”
