Pune, 6th August 2024: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has swiftly addressed the numerous potholes that emerged following the recent heavy rains. In a concerted effort from August 3 to August 5, PMC workers filled 1,224 potholes across 153 locations, utilizing 256 metric tons of asphalt material.

A significant number of Pune’s roads had been excavated for laying drainage and water channels, resulting in patchwork that did not integrate well with the existing road surfaces. The heavy rains exacerbated the problem, causing the surface plastering on these patched roads to deteriorate, leading to the formation of potholes and water accumulation.

Starting Saturday night, the PMC intensified its campaign to repair these potholes. Engineers from the road department worked tirelessly overnight on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday to address the issue.
