Pune, 16 September 2021: Ganesh Chaturthi this year was celebrated with strict guidelines by different state governments. Even with the strict guidelines, people ensured that they offer what they want to Ganesha. Even though many offerings were made, the offering by a devotee to Dagdusheth Halwai Ganesha in Pune stood out. To everyone’s surprise, a devotee has offered a 10-kilogram gold crown to Dagdusheth Halwai Ganesha without caring about the rising Gold Rate. The devotee did not disclose the name and even the temple trust department is not revealing the same as the devotee has asked them not to reveal the name. The offering was made on the very first day of the festival and the crown is said to become one of the major attractions of the temple now.

Another unique offering that grabbed eyeballs included a 1,100-kilogram laddu on Vinayaka Chaturthi in the Khairatabad Ganesh temple in Hyderabad. The massive laddu was offered by J Tanay Rana and his family. The Khairatabad Ganesh is itself very popular for its 40 feet tall idol of the game which made it earn the title of Panchamukha Rudra Maha Ganpati.

Why Offerings Are Made?
Seeing such unique offerings, one might ask why such offerings are made to God. There are plenty of reasons behind such offerings which sometimes might or might not look scientific because the only accurate explanation behind offerings to God includes the faith of the devotee. A few of the reasons why offerings are made to God includes expressing hospitality to God, to promote reciprocity which is often suggested by Horoscope readings. In addition to that, many people simply make offerings because their ancestors also practised the same rituals and others make the offerings because they believe that gods ask for them. Other reasons include expressing devotions and reminding ourselves that we have enough.

Restrictions Will Be Implemented During Religious Festivals
Ganesh Chaturthi simply is the beginning of many upcoming festivals in India. Just as devotees saw restrictions being placed in the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi, one can expect the same restrictions for the upcoming religious festivals too. Festivals see mass gatherings and to prevent a third wave of Covid in India, such strict restrictions are crucial for everyone. The current priority of the government is to celebrate festivals but to ensure the lives and health of the citizens as stated by Uddhav Thackrey, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

Festivals not only embarks mass gatherings during the event but also before that when the market is flooded with festive shopping. Even without restrictions by the government, as responsible citizens, one needs to ensure that they avoid public gatherings to stay safe. In addition to that, when stepping outside the Covid protocols like always wearing a mask and sanitizing the hand for 20 seconds needs to be followed. Small gatherings within the social bubble should be encouraged and any large celebration should be discouraged. Further, if one is hosting such a festive event, they should ensure that it is carried out in open spaces like a balcony, terrace or garden to minimize the risk of exposure while ensuring that social distancing is followed.

SMEs Sees Job Opportunities In Indian Festivals
The Indian economy faced a hard blow due to COVID-19 and currently, it is trying to recover itself. The festival season is creating a path for job opportunities in small-to-medium enterprises along with an increase in revenue. Even though such events are important to boost the economy, the consumers should ensure that they are engaging themselves in safe shopping and avoiding crowded places. Shopping via the eCommerce market is a good way of shopping during the festive season without having the need to go out in the crowded market for purchasing whatever can be purchased online.

Will India See The Third Wave Of Covid?
The question of whether one will see the third wave of Covid in India often pops up and the answer to this is dicey. Few believe that the third wave is already here whereas the others are anticipating. Even though no one is fully sure about the status of the third Covid wave, one statement that has been dominatingly put out in the media is that it will be less deadly. One of the reasons behind it is that most people are vaccinated which reduces the risk of any serious health issues due to Covid.
