Pune Metro’s Shivajinagar To Swargate Line To Open Soon For Passengers

Pune, 3rd September 2024: Although most of the works on the underground metro line and stations between Shivajinagar Court and Swargate have been completed, the passengers will have to wait till the end of the month as the administrative process will take more time to complete. Meanwhile, it is reported that efforts are being made to simultaneously hold the ground-breaking of the expanded metro lines and the inauguration of the Swargate station along with the underground metro.

Pimpri Chinchwad – Shivajinagar Court Metro is currently operational in the city. On the same route, there will be a subway between Shivajinagar Court and Swargate. Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol, MLA Madhuri Misal inspected the Swargate Metro station and reviewed the work. Mahametro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar and Metro officials were present on the occasion.

Between Shivajinagar Court – Swargate Metro has Budhwar Peth (Kasba Ganapati), Mahatma Phule Mandai, and Swargate stations. Hardikar explained that it would take another ten days to complete the work of Mahatma Phule Mandai station. A team of the Central Railway Safety Board inspected the underground metro line and the three stations. He further informed that changes have been made as per their suggestions. Now it will be re-inspected to get the safety certificate. After that, a decision will be taken about the use of the metro line.

Pune Metro’s Budhwar Pethe station is to be renamed as Kasba Peth station, Mangalwar Pethe station is to be renamed as RTO station and Nashik Phata station is to be renamed as Kasarwadi station. The proposal regarding the same has been sent to the central government. Hardikar informed that the Central Government has approved the renaming of the Civil Court station as Shivajinagar District Court.

Mohol stated that the Swargate-Katraj extended metro line has received the approval of the central government. Efforts are on to get early approval from the central government for the expansion of Ramwadi-Wagholi and Vanaj-Chandani Chowk routes. He further said that the groundbreaking ceremonies of all three lines and the inauguration of Shivajinagar Court-Swargate Metro Station will be done at the same time.
