Pune: Gang Planning Petrol Pump Robbery Arrested in Hinjawadi: Four Detained

Hinjawadi, 31st July 2024: In Hinjawadi, a gang planning to commit a robbery at a petrol pump was arrested by the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate’s (PCPC) Anti-Extortion Squad. A case has been registered against six people, with four already arrested. The gang members were found in possession of materials intended for the robbery. The arrest took place at Sakhare Wasti in Hinjawadi yesterday at around 4:45 PM.

Anti-Extortion Squad Constable Ganesh Girigosavi reported the incident to the Hinjawadi Police Station. The arrested individuals are Vishnu Digambar Pawar (20, resident of Wadgaon Maval), Karan Rahul Lokhande (18, resident of Kala Khadak, Wakad), Arvind Amar Koli (18, resident of Dehu Gaon), and Sahil Satish Sureshe (18, resident of Mhatoba Temple Road, Hinjawadi). Rishikesh Jadhav and Babu Shaikh (both residents of Kala Khadak, Wakad) are absconding.

A case has been filed against all of them under BNS Sections 310 (dacoity), and relevant sections of the Arms Act of 1959 and the Maharashtra Police Act of 1951.

According to police reports, the accused were equipped with dangerous items, including two koytas, an extended sickle, chilli powder, and ropes. These types of items are banned by orders from Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey. Despite these orders, the accused were attempting to rob the Shell Petrol Pump in Hinjawadi when the Anti-Extortion Squad intervened. Police Sub-Inspector Taktode from Hinjawadi Police Station is investigating the matter further.
