Pune, 4th September 2024: After the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) was criticized for not filling the potholes on the roads in the city, the Road Department has taken up the task of filling the potholes on the roads. At present, taking advantage of the rains, the PMC has filled more than 499 potholes in the last nine days. In the next two days, it is said that efforts will be made to repair potholes on all important roads in the city.

Rajendra Bhosale, the Municipal Commissioner, had ordered the filling of all the potholes on the roads in the wake of Ganeshotsav. For this purpose, he said that a special pothole-filling campaign would be carried out for five days before Ganeshotsav and five days before immersion.

Following the instructions given by the Municipal Commissioner, the Road Department has started the work. Aniruddha Pawaskar, Chief Engineer, Road Department informed that more than 499 potholes were filled in nine days. The work of filling potholes on major roads in the city is currently going on at war level, and reportedly 2,795 tons of hot mix (hot asphalt) has been used for the same.

“Between 26 August and 3 September, the Road Department has completed asphalting of 6,696 sqm of roads, and the potholes on the remaining roads will be filled in the next two days. During these works, 43 chambers, as well as two places where rainwater was constantly accumulating, were repaired,” Pawaskar informed further.

Officials of the department have inspected the major roads of the city through which the procession of Lord Ganesha is planned. Repair work on this road is being done on priority to avoid any disturbance. Pawaskar said that most of the works have been completed, but minor works are pending.
