Pune, 28th July 2024: The vegetable section of Pune’s Market Yard has witnessed a significant influx of leafy vegetables, leading to a decrease in prices for various greens such as coriander, saffron, amaranth, and chawlai. The increased supply comes after a period of reduced arrival of fruits and vegetables last week due to heavy rains.

As the weather stabilizes, the inflow of fruits and vegetables is gradually returning to normal. This recovery has resulted in lower prices for vegetables like cucumber, dodka, , peas, and chillies in the wholesale market. Meanwhile, prices for fenugreek, shepu, kandapat (spring onion), chakwat, pudina, radish, and spinach have remained stable.

According to traders in the vegetable department, the market received two lakh bundles of coriander and one lakh bundles of fenugreek on Sunday.

Wholesale Market Prices of Leafy Vegetables (per 100 bundles):

Coriander: ₹800 to ₹1,000

Fenugreek: ₹500 to ₹800

Shepu: ₹500 to ₹800

Spring Onion: ₹800 to ₹1,000

Chakwat: ₹400 to ₹600

Kardai: ₹300 to ₹600

Mint: ₹400 to ₹1,000

Flax: ₹500 to ₹800

Amaranth: ₹400 to ₹700

Chuka: ₹500 to ₹800

Chawlai: ₹300 to ₹700

Spinach: ₹800 to ₹1,500

The traders highlighted that the prices are reflective of the current supply and demand dynamics within the market. With the weather forecast looking stable, the vegetable inflow is expected to continue at this increased pace, potentially further stabilizing or reducing prices in the coming weeks.

For consumers, this means better availability and affordability of leafy greens, making it an ideal time to purchase fresh vegetables.
